Mahesh Ramanujam, president and CEO of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and Green Business Certification, Inc. (GBCI), will be the honored guest at an event happening next Tuesday, March 10, 2020. The event, entitled: Is There Life Beyond LEED? An Evening with Mahesh Ramanujam, will be hosted by Coastal Enterprises Inc- which has one of the few LEED rated facilities in Maine. And it will be co-hosted by the Environmental & Energy Technology Council of Maine (E2Tech).
“A graduate from India’s Annamalai University with a degree in Computer Engineering, Ramanujam couples a strong background in technology and innovation with his goal of building healthier communities and democratizing sustainable living,” according to E2Tech. “Mahesh is proving that building a more sustainable world is no longer a dream, but a global evolution.”
So what is LEED, and why is this such an important discussion for Maine’s mechanical and general contracting industries? Well, according to the USGBC, LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Contractors in Maine and beyond understand that the guidelines set forth by the USGBC are the industry standard for new building projects.
“Available for virtually all building project types, from new construction to interior fit-outs and operation & maintenance, LEED provides a framework that project teams can apply to create healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement.”
Once again, this event will be hosted by Coastal Enterprises Inc., which is located at 30 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME 04011. It will run from 5:30 to 7:30PM next Tuesday, March 10.
