The craft brewing industry in Maine is as robust as ever and is showing no signs of slowing down. The city of Portland in particular has received many accolades recently: USA Today named Novare Res Bier Cafe as the best beer bar in New England back in April; Bon Appetit magazine gave the Portland craft beer scene a shout out when it ranked it as the top restaurant city in the country last year; and C + R Research, an analytical firm based in Chicago, ranked Portland number one among cities with the most breweries per 50,000 people. In that same study, C + R ranked Bissell Brothers Brewing Company as the most popular brewery based on search volume.
In order for any brewery to be successful, they need to have a reliable process piping system in place. CCB Construction Services, a general and mechanical contractor based in Westbrook who claim to be the “leading installer to the Craft Brewing Industry and water processing industry in Maine”, assisted in the construction and piping for Bissell Brothers. According to their website, “CCB provides mechanical and general construction services including brewhouse installation, fermentation tank installation, filtration piping, process skids, valve manifolds and CIP systems.” They use fixed stainless steel pipework whenever possible, and employ fully licensed master plumbers and welders to get the job done.
Other craft brewing projects that CCB has worked on include Oxbow Blending & Bottling, located in Portland’s ever-expanding retail area on Washington Avenue in the East End, and Nonesuch River Brewing, the first and only brewery located in Scarborough .
